Just thought I would tell everyone about a free service that i recently found out about. Its called Drop Box (www.getdropbox.com).

Basically it provides you with an online hard drive where you can save files. If you then install the Drop Box client on your PC you can set up shared folders between your friends/colleagues, in effect creating a shared network drive. Anyone who has access to your shared drive will automatically receive updated copy’s of files when they connect to the net.

I think its really cleaver, so i thought I’d post it for anyone else who might find it useful.

Please note:
Although they encrypt the files using 256BIT for transfer and store them in an encrypted state i still wouldn’t use it for personal files containing private info though.

Googles Facebook

Google labs has recently released its very own social website called Orkut in direct competition with the world famous Facebook. We’ve registered for an account and had a snoop around the site and are not surprised to see that Google has laid out the site in a much clearer and appealing way than Facebooks new face lift. Facebook have supposedly received over 800,000 complaints from members over its new look, as there was nothing wrong with the old Facebook in the first place! Maybe Google have struck when the irons hot and all the angry Facebookfans will start to move over to this exciting new platform that guarantees a quality, secure experience where they listen to there feedback instead of doing the opposite? Only time will tell!
