So, what are Google Sitemaps?

A Google sitemap is pretty much what it says on the tin, a map of your website that the Google bots can follow to help them index your website more effectively.

Why should i have a Google sitemap?

As I’m sure you already know, today the Internet is flooded with billions of web sites. Due to this fact, Google no longer has the processing power to simply find every single website on the net and index it. The solution they came up with was to launch the well known Google sitemaps system where webmasters can index there own websites. If you don’t submit a sitemap to Google, don’t be surprised if your web site takes an age to index or update in Googles cache, Google will obviously go for the sites that are trying to help them first!
