How to Create a Glass Effect in Photoshop

In this quick tutorial I’m going to show you how to create a simple glass effect using photoshop. I’m using photoshop CS4 but all versions of photoshop have the ability to create this basic yet beutiful glass effect. The glass effect is very web 2.0 looking and can transform parts of your website that may otherwise come across as dull, for example buttons.
So here we go..
Step 1
Create your button (or shape)
Step 2
Create another shape the same but only half the height. Then set the transparency to 25% and position it at the top of the original image so that it covers half of the image.
The final result should look something like this..
